SPIKED STRIP GROUND ELECTRODES SYSTEMS

Inventor

Associate Professor Dr. Normiza Binti Mohamad Nor

Description of Invention

An effective grounding system is important to dissipate high impulse current into the ground, where these high magnitudes of current can occur under any kinds of faults. The invention provides a spiked strip ground electrodes system, comprises a strip conductor and a plurality of spiked electrodes that are attached to the strip conductor. The plurality of spiked electrodes has a pointed spike to increase electric field, provide more paths for current dissipation into the ground and to allow majority of the current to discharge downward and away from the ground surface, minimizing the Ground Potential Rise (GPR) on the ground’s surface.
