EARLY INFARCT DETECTION FOR BRAIN IMAGES

    Inventor

Professor Ir. Dr. Sim Kok Swee
  • Description of Invention

Currently, the stroke cases are diagnosed by the medical practitioners through the visual inspection on the brain images. These brain images are normally in Digital Imaging and Communication in Medicine (DICOM) format since the common imaging modalities using in hospital are Computed Tomography (CT) scan. The DICOM images incorporate the images with corresponding textual information. Although there are many existing DICOM viewer software systems which help doctor to have better visualization on the detection of lesion and stroke, the manual interpretation of the CT brain images is still practicing by doctors and hospitals. In addition, the interpretation for exact spot of stroke occurred is hardly observed with current DICOM viewer software system due to contrast and brightness issue. Moreover, doctors who are lack of experience may give wrong interpretation especially in low contrast CT brain images.
