The current work is the authors own initiative in inventing a medical grade waist support belt with the name: Dr. DiY$ BELT. The belt is made for all age groups with and without back issues. The belt is designed with comments and suggestions from leading orthopedic doctors and surgeons. Hence, the belt provides a comfortable and safe support to the spine when it is used. The belt is made of fabric with elastic bands that can be adjusted in terms of its elasticity, i.e., tightness. There are three pads provided with the belt namely for the user preference. The first pad provides extra support to the spine by means of adding an extra pre-cut sponge into the pads pocket. The second pad is made of pure cotton that gives a comfortable support to the spine. The third pad is made from a self-heating material with built in magnets that allows improved blood circulation to the spine when the pad is used. The entire belt is supported with five memory alloy steel bars. These steel bars had been fabricated in a way that will follow the contour of the user who wears the belt. Hence, the belt is not recommended to be shared among others as the memory alloys had deformed to its specific spine geometry of the first user of the belt. It is recommended to remove all the plates from their designated pockets while washing the belt. In case you forgot to remove them, you may do so after the washing is complete. Once the belt is dried, insert the memory alloy plates correctly into their respective pockets. You should strictly follow their correct order of placement with the labels facing upwards. The belt is designed to provide maximum support and comfort to the back. To achieve this, it should be worn with the plates of the belt in their respective correct pockets facing upwards and not downwards. You may reduce the absorption of body sweat to the belt when it is worn on a cotton shirt. If you plan to wear the belt directly on the skin, there is no harm as the material used is safe and derived mainly from cotton. After using the belt, simply air dry it at room temperature, i.e., 27 ± 5 oC. To make things easy, the belt is designed in a way that is machine washable. You are recommended to wash your belt at the following washing machine settings: delicate wash, do not add bleach, wash at 30 oC or below, normal tumble dry preferably at 600 to 750 rpm and lastly do not iron the belt. The belt comes in four sizes that is small, medium, large and extra-large catering different human waistline measurements. The belt has been sold at a price from RM300.00 to RM400.00 per piece. All belts come with a unique serial number to counter track the imitation belts sold in the black market. The belt has received positive comments among users who had purchased it. Up to the 1st of September 2023, more than 1000 belts had been sold worldwide.
