Design and Development of River Surveillance and Sampling Boat

Physical sampling of water on site is necessary for various applications like drinking water quality checking in lakes, comprehension of marine ecosystems and checking for contaminants in freshwater systems. This project involved designing and integrating a drone controller, a water collection sampling contraption unit, and a surveillance camera system. The drone controller has an autopilot system where the operator can set a course and the boat can travel following the path set, the boat will fight the external forces to keep itself in the right position. The water sampling unit collects the water sample and then holds it in the boat until the boat returns to the start location. The surveillance camera mounted onto the boat on the center and top of the boat, it helps the operator to observe the area and the location the boat is in during the operation. Experiments were conducted to determine the operational capabilities of the robot boat at the Ayer Keroh Lake. The surveillance and sampling boat are able to be controlled well by the drone controller while the surveillance camera able to capture the image of the surroundings. The water collection sampling contraption unit collected samples from 44 targeted areas of the lake. The comprehensive examination of collected water samples provided insights into the factors influencing the pollution and observation of water bodies. The successful design and development of a robot boat is a promising technology for monitoring and sampling water bodies, and it offers several advantages over traditional monitoring methods.Key Features:- Low cost as integrated with drone controller for positioning, speed and location tracking- Provide water pollution preventive system in affordable cost- Minimize the intervention of human to polluted environment while taking samples- The design of the boat can be use for various other mission such as drone charging platform, flood monitoring, rescue team and waterway cleaning boat.
